Pioneer Power Show planned near Le Sueur on Aug. 28-30 Tuesday, August 25, 2009
LE SUEUR, Minn. -- The Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Association's 36th Annual Pioneer Power Show is scheduled Aug. 28-30 on the 110-acre grounds located six miles east of Le Sueur on County Road 26.
The 2009 show includes North American Ferguson Expo for tractors and equipment. The Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America is a nationwide club and will display unique and memorable equipment.
Antique fire trucks and equipment will also be featured. The Pioneer Power Association has a Pioneer Power Fire Department, consisting of members of many area fire departments.
Collectors of rare Eagle tractors will also be featured. Eagle tractors are rare and several will be on display.
The 150th birthday of the Pioneer Power Log Cabin will be celebrated. The log cabin, which was moved in from a local homestead, will host special birthday activities.
Visitors will be able to observe lumber sawing, broom making, threshing, combining, blacksmithing and earthmoving. Also visit the creamery, country school house and gas station. Stationary steam and diesel engines, as well as dozens of small gas engines and accessories will be in operation. Don't forget to check out the miniature land displays and take a ride on the miniature railroad.
A parade will be featured at 12:30 p.m. daily. The Antique Tractor and Equipment Auction is held Aug. 28, beginning at 10 a.m. This auction attracts equipment buyers and sellers from a large area. The Antique Tractor Pull starts at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 29. It's one of the largest pulls in southern Minnesota.
A new 50- by-88 foot entertainment building, named Pioneer Hall, has been completed.
A pancake and sausage breakfast will be served Aug. 29-30 in the pancake house. The Threshers Kitchen features home-cooked meals, as well as sandwiches, pies and other goodies.
Catholic Mass will be offered at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 and an Ecumenical Service will be held at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 30.
