DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Swiss Valley Farms is celebrating its 50th birthday in the coming year.
The Davenport-base dairy cooperative kicked off its 50th year as a cooperative in March with a celebration in Dubuque.
Tours of the Swiss Valley's Dubuque bottling plant were conducted and a compilation of 25 years of Swiss Valley Farms TV commercials were shown. Every Swiss Valley Farms plant was represented in display booths.
Sarah Kauffmann created several cheese sculptures. Iowa's Butter Cow Lady, Duffy Lyon, a co-op member from Toledo, displayed her work. She recreated the Swiss Valley Farms logo and 50th anniversary logo.

Swiss Valley Farms began as a merger of two Quad-City area dairies, Illinois-Iowa Milk Producers and Quality Milk Association in 1958.
Swiss Valley Farms is now the 16th largest dairy cooperative in the United States, with sales of $425 million,. The co-op employs 700 and has 1,100 dairy producers in four states.
"Nancy Feeney, member relations manager, and her team did a wonderful job of organizing the 50th celebration in Dubuque," Bolin said. "She made Swiss Valley look good. It was a special event."
Special events at all Swiss Valley Farms plants will be held throughout the year.
