Letter -- Thanks to all who support Minnesota Ag in the Classroo Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation has had another successful year developing and delivering high-quality agricultural literacy materials to schools in our state.
MAITC completes its 22nd year on June 30. It's success is only made possible by the generous contribution from its financial partners. Without them, MAITC's efforts would be minimal.
Agri News has been a generous sponsor of the MAITC since 1995. Their commitment to MAITC's mission and programs highlights why agricultural literacy programs are extremely necessary in our school systems. With students three, four and five generation removed from the farm, MAITC's mission is more important today than it has ever been.
New this year MAITC was able to adapt its highly popular "AgMag'' publication for first graders through a grant from AgStar Foundation. The "AgMag Junior" was exceptionally well received and will be an addition to teachers' curriculums in over 250 schools next fall.
Also new this year is the highly anticipated "Fields of Energy" DVD. This DVD dives into the facts of renewable energy and how agriculture is leading the way. Since its release in the early spring, over 200 schools have requested the DVD to use in junior high and high school classrooms.
Private donations from individuals, organizations and businesses make it possible for MAITC to offer all of its programs and materials free. It doesn't matter if it is a one family home school class or a large county fair event, anyone from Minnesota can order MAITC materials and receive them for free.
Every year MAITC counts on generous donations to make this possible. If you are interested in helping support MAITC and its mission to provide quality agricultural literacy teaching materials please visit their website at HYPERLINK "http://www.maitcfoundation.org." There you can learn more about programs and how you can become a financial partner.
Thank you again to Agri-News and their continued support of Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation.
